Preventing face-to-face violence™: Should you have a 2-day or 1-day course?
Mostly, we bring the course to you. All you have to do is provide a good training room, any refreshments, and the participants!
You pay a fee that includes everything – tuition, tutor’s travel and accommodation, course materials for the participants – there are no extras. This means no staff travel or accommodation costs and, importantly, you immediately acquire a ‘critical mass’ of staff who are all working from the same approach.
Alternatively, we run an ‘Open’ (to all relevant professionals) course annually towards the end of March. This is good if you want to ‘try out’ the course or there is only one or two of you who need to attend.
You can probably judge best for yourself, but the following examples may help.
Professions attending the 2-day course:
Those who have a duty of care to people they work with, e.g.
- In secure mental health facilities such as Special Hospitals, RSU’s, PICU’s and similar. HM Prison Service.
- People who are looking after children and adolescents in residential and domestic settings.
- In learning disability.
- Social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and related professions.
- Many NHS and Local Authority personnel.
- People working in pubs, clubs and other places of recreation.
Professions attending the 1-day course:
- Bus drivers and related transport professionals: rail, air, etc.*
- People who work in shops, and others who have regular contact with the public.*
- Anyone who, of necessity, disappoints people, for example by giving bad news, declining requests etc.
